布地購入時の注意点

キルトのために必要な物はまず布地です。

Fabric is indispensable item for quilting.



布地を購入する際、色合わせはもちろんですが、織り傷や色むら、汚れなどがないかできる限りチェックします。それでも全てを見る事は出来ません。
先日もアイロン掛けをしているときに、こんな傷があるのを発見、しかもその横にずっと色むらがありました。

When Mana buys fabric, she checks blem on it carefully, however, it is impossible to find everything.
Mana found this blem when she did the ironing.





頻繁にあるわけではありませんが、珍し事でもないので、布地は必要な長さよりも多めに購入しています。場所によってはかなり無駄が出る事もあります。
ご自身で布地を購入されるときのご参考に。特に大きめの作品を作るときはしっかりチェックする事をお勧めします。そして少し多めに買うと安心ですね。

It happen not often, but it is not rare, so Mana always buy fabric longer than necessary length for just in case. Mana hope this is helpful when you buy the fabric.

家族のようなキルトを part of Ohana

出産間近までお教室に通って下さったCさんから、出産報告をいただきました！
キルトが大活躍しているご様子。お手伝いしたANELAも嬉しい。。。。しかも、「ワシャワシャ洗濯もしています」との事。一生懸命作ったキルトを使うのが勿体なくて。。。とおっしゃる方が多いのですが、やはり作ったキルトは生活の中でどっぷり使っていただきたいな〜と思います。使い込んで、色あせして、ちょっとほつれたりしてもどんどん愛着がわくような、そんなキルトをこれからも皆さんにたくさん作っていただきたいと、改めて思った今日でした。

Ms.C who continued taking lesson until near her time, sent to Mana this photo today.
What a lovely baby boy! She uses her quilt for her little anela (angel) very much.
Most students said they are not able to use their quilt because they made it with great enthusiasm......however, Mana want them to use it. It may fade and it lose some of its firmness as ages, but it become more attached. It will be a part of Ohana. Mana desire such quilt increase very much.

色選び

サラトガクラス、本日の完成品。
なんとまたまた今月出産を控えていらっしゃる３人目の妊婦さんYさんです。初めてのキルティングもすぐに習得されて予定通り５回できっちり終わることができました。はなまる〜

Another mum-to-be finished this beginner's quilt.



次回作は、やはりオムツを入れる大きめのポーチ。
ママサイドのプルメリアとベビーサイドのカメモチーフで、はっきりしたお色味でご用意いたしました。

Her next work is diaper porch. She chose very bright color.





そしてこちらは、一つ一つゆっくり丁寧に製作されている別のYさんの完成品。
デザインキルトが個性的で素敵に仕上がりました。

This is the first quilt of Ms.Y who make quilt very carefully with her pace.





そして次回作にサークル型で海モチーフ、お色は赤を希望されました。色選びに固定観念は無用です。サンゴのようなイメージで素敵な作品になりそうです。

The theme of pattern is ocean, and she chose red. When you choose color, stereotype is not necessary. The image looks like coral.
