クリスマス会 last lesson of 2013

今日は今年最後のレッスンだったのでクリスマス会も行いました。
そして、こんな素敵なお花をいただきました。

Today was last lesson of 2013, I prepared some refreshment for after class, and got this flower as Christmas present from them.......  so pretty.





来年もまた楽しくキルト作りが出来るといいですね〜
お手伝いできるよう頑張ります！

I make an effort to encourage them to pick up their needle and thread in next year, too.

また一つ one more

ウォールハンギング製作中のKさんが、お花のアップリケ途中で悩まれていると。。。

４つのお花のサイズを大きめにしたいというご相談でした。

Ms. K who is making a wall hanging, discontinues her quilt, because she want to change a size of some flowers.

キルトを眺めながらお話を伺っていて。。。

４カ所はアップリケではなくコサージュをつけたら？とご提案したところ

Kさんも同意され、キルトに入られる事になりました。

またまた、アレンジが加わり楽しいキルトが出来そうです。

She wants to make four flowers eye-catcher.

I advised to make a corsage and put them after quilting.....she agreed.

ウキウキ！ happy & excited!

６、７年前に制作したハワイ王朝のキルトです。
大きく、色もハデなのでなかなか飾る事が出来ずにいましたが
ようやく飾る事が出来ました。。。

Because this Royal Quilt that I made about six or seven years ago, is big and colorful,
I didn't have chance to hang it on the wall so far.




キルトを掛けると、また創作意欲が湧きます。
特に、クリスマスキルトはウキウキしますね。


When I hang the quilt on the wall, it light a creative fire in making new quilt.
Especially Christmas quilt, happy and excited!

クリスマスキルト達 How to display

本日のワークショップで小物のみですが、お見せしたクリスマスキルトたち。

I showed these Christmas Quilts in worksop today.




そして、家にはオーダーしていたテーブルトップのガラスがついに届いたので
早速クリスマスキルトのウォールハンギングを入れてみました。

At last this glass of table top that I ordered arrived, I displayed the wall hanging on the table.




でもこのちょっと小さめのウォールハンギング（90cm x 90cm)が他にないので
クリスマスが終わる前に、別の物を作るという課題が出来ました。。。。

I have to make just this size quilt before Christmas is over....

今週のワークショップ today's workshop

ローカル紙の広告が先週の金曜日にやっと出ました。

今日は７人のママさん達がお子さんを隣の部屋に預けてキルトに挑戦。

「もう、はまりそう〜！」って言って下さるのが何より幸せ。
Hawaiian Quilt 好きが一人でも増える事がANELAの楽しみです。

課題の選択 Christmas workshop

今日はJCCCNC のワークショップでした。
今回、アップリケの省略はせずクリスマスストッキングを作りたいという依頼。
参加者はすべて経験者という条件でお引き受けしました。仕上げやデザインを簡略化したつもりでしたが、やはり一回のワークショップでするのは厳しかったです。

Workshop of JCCCNC at SF.
I was asked for this workshop on the following condition
Make Christmas stocking, not omit any progression, experiencer only.
I designed simple pattern, but it's not easy to teach it one time only.



作品がきれいに完成するようメールでフォローをしていきます。

次のブランケット next blanket

先日、プレゼント用にブランケットを完成させたK.Nさんが
ご自宅用にモンステラとピカケレイの組み合わせで作られる事になり
いくつかデザインを考えました。

Ms. K.N who ended an orange blanket for her aunt, want to make another for her.
The design she chose is monstera and pikake lei.




今回はご自分で布選びもされました。
素敵な色合いです。

She chose these fabric.
It's nice color.

刺激をもらいます。outrageous

先週ウォールハンギングにとりかかったKさん
もう少しで葉っぱのアップリケが終わります。

Ms. K almost finishes an appliqué.




プルメリアのお花の色を悩まれていました。
私だったら無難な生成りの色を選んでしまいそうなのですが
彼女はそれではつまらないと色見本をおいて検討
ブルー地の柄物に決定しキルト糸もブルーで統一感を出す事にしました。
彼女の発想はとても斬新でとても楽しい、そして勉強になります。
仕上がりが楽しみです。

She was turning over the color of flowers.
If I made this quilt, I would choose ivory color.
However, she prefer other color and put various color samples on her quilt.
I suggested blue color because she loves it, and recommended blue thread for quilt.
Her idea is very fresh and a good lesson for me.

クリスマスのオーナメント
パターン違いで４種作ってみました。
左からウル、クリスマスローズ、ククイ、エンジェルトランペット

I made other ornaments.
pattern from left: Ulu, Christmas rose, Kukui, Angel trumpet





裏地はポインセチア柄の色違いを使いました。
デザインキルトは金糸を使いましたが、あまり目立たないかな？
はじめてさんにはちょっと扱いにくいかもしれないのでワークショップで使うのはどうしようか検討中です。。。。。

The back fabrics are red and green poinsettia pattern.
Can you see the golden thread of design quilting? I think it is hard to work for beginner......
considering about using it at workshop.

基本は大切！Basic importance

ワークショップの２時間だけできちんとハワイアンキルトをお伝えする事は難しいのですが、少しでもハワイアンキルトに触れる機会になったらいいなあと思います。
これはクリスマスツリーに飾れるキルトのオーナメント
１２cm四方ですが、これでも完全に時間内に仕上げるのは厳しいですね。

It's not easy to teach traditional Hawaiian quilt within two hours workshop.
However, I hope people are able to touch a part of Hawaiian quilt.
This is a Christmas ornament (4"x4")
which I prepared for next workshop......maybe cannot finish it in time.



侮るなかれ、小物は意外と作りにくいのです。。。。。
そんな訳で、ビギナーズキットはクッションサイズの一番作りやすい大きさのものからスタートし、４、５回かけてきっちり基礎を学んでいただきたいと思います。

Don't underestimate little item, it's not easy.
That's why I recommend pillow size beginner kit as first quilt.
You can learn basic technique with 4 or 5 lessons.

一つ一つ one by one

サンノゼ教室に最初から参加してくださってるK.Nさん
身の回りに一つずつ作品が増えるのはとても楽しいですね。
そしてもちろん、一作品ごと仕上がりがきれいになっています。

思い付かなかった。 combination

お教室にいらしているKさんの一作目が完成し、
２作品目は大きめのウォールハンギングに挑戦される事になりました。

Ms.K finished her first quilt.
She decided to make wall hanging (39"x39") as second quilt.




プルメリアのお花がちりばめられたデザインをご希望
土台布に柄物を選ばれ、また２作品目なので。。。とおっしゃっていたので
最初はすっきりしたラインのパターンをデザインしました。

She would like to plumeria pattern, and chose printed cloth for background.
I designed a simple pattern.




もう少し手応えがあり、ゴージャスに見えるというご要望にお応えしパターンを変更

but she prefers more gorgeous pattern.




アップリケの色はソファーの色とマッチするよう黒に決まりました。
さっそく、実物大パターンを制作し、カットします。
彼女の布選びは、私には決して思いつかない組み合わせです。
出来上がりが楽しみです。

I suggested black pattern to match with the color of the sofa.
I make a large scale pattern and cut it..........look forward to a completion
because I never come up with this combination of cloth.

クリスマスワークショップ Christmas workshop

先日ワークショップを行ったJCCCNCより
急遽クリスマス向けワークショップの依頼がありました。
ストッキングです。

I got an offer of Christmas workshop at JCCCNC in SF.



前回のワークショップの作品もオフィースに飾ってある写真をいただきました。
他のデコレーションとマッチしていて可愛いですね。

The office of JCCCNC is decorated with the last work of workshop.
It's so cute!

ハロウィーンキルト Halloween quilt

今日はハロウィーンですね。

我が家ではすっかり縁のない行事になってしまいましたが。

せめてキルトだけでも。

Happy Halloween!

My sons are teenager nowand aren't interested in Trick or Treat.

Only this quilt remind me today is Halloween.

メモリアルキルト２ Dog memorial 2

メモリアルキルトの第２弾はウォールハンギングに挑戦されるという事で
パイナップル畑をお散歩しているイメージのパターンをご提供しました。
お抹茶色のとても素敵な色で出来上がりが楽しみです。

The second memorial quilt.
I designed the dog is going for a walk in the pineapple field.
The color is very beautiful.
I look forward to finish it.

携帯ケース Smartphone case

ちょこちょこっとスマートフォンケースを作ってみました。
こちらはウルのパターンで、ストラップにはリボンレイをつけてみました。

I made a smartphone case.
This pattern is Ulu with ribbon lei strap.



こちらは一面はホヌ（亀）もう一面はティアレをつけてみました。

One side is Honu(sea turtle), other side is Tiare.

ソーイングケース Sewing case

こちらはサンノゼクラスの２作品目です。
お教室に来るときに持ってくるコンパクトなソーイングケース
というご希望で、単行本サイズのケースです。

This is the second quilt of San Jose class.
They requested me the compact sewing case which they can bring to lesson.



必要なものがコンパクトに収納できるので、
意外と自宅でも重宝するとの事です。

This is very useful to bring sewing set, and also to use sewing kit at home

ベビーキルト Keiki quilt

５月頃フロリダの生徒さんからうれしいご報告
何とお二方がご懐妊されたそうで
早速ベビーキルトのご相談がありました。
パターンのアイデアをいくつか送り
細かい所のご希望を聞いてまたパターンを作り替え

In May, I got a happy news from Florida, two of student become pregnant.
They asked me about baby quilt.
I sent some patterns and asked their hope several times.




そして布地を選び

After they decided patterns, I got fabric which they want.





地直し、裁断、そして送付いたしました。

I ironed, cut and sent it.




先月、Yさんが無事に出産されたご報告をいただきました。

New mother Y gave birth last month.




出産前にキルトがすべて間に合いそうも無いと心配されていたので
とりあえず縁取りの仕上げをされる事をお勧めしたところ
この写真を送って下さいました。
ウルのパターンが大好きな彼女、赤ちゃんへの愛情をいっぱい込めてハートがいっぱい。
そして元気な子になるように、葉っぱが上へのびるイメージというご依頼でしたが
素敵なキルトになりました。

One of them asked me, it's not easier to finish it before birth.
I suggested her to do piping first.
She sent this photo.



育児に余裕ができたら、また少しずつキルトして完成させて下さいね。

When you can make a time, please do quilt little by little.

メモリアルキルト memorial quilt

お教室に来ているYさんの夢は、
以前飼っていらした愛犬のメモリアルキルトを作ること。
是非願いを叶えていだきたいと、参考のシルエットをいただき
いくつかパターンをデザインしてみました。

Madam Y wanted to make a memorial quilt of her dog.
I want her to grant the wish.
I got the silhouette of the dog and designed these patterns.




まずは一つクッションカバーから
夢が広がるとおっしゃっていました。

The first one is pillow case.
She said a dream come true.

一作目 Virgin Quilt

一作目はビギーナーズキットを制作していただいています。

In Anela, everyone makes beginner's kit that I made, as a first quilt.



ハワイアンキルトのパターンで最もポピュラーな
ULU(ブレッドフルーツ)のパターンです。
このデザインはアップリケの基本が勉強できるようなデザインです。
やはり基礎はしっかり身につけたいですね。

The pattern is Ulu(breadfruit) which is the most popular pattern of Hawaiian quilt.
You can learn basic line of appliqué.
I think basic is very important.

ママ友 workshop in Campbell

今日は「ママ友de広場」というお母さんのための
単発習い事教室のお手伝いに伺いました。

I went to teach Hawaiian Quilt in the class "Mama tomo de hiroba".



参加者全員日本人ママさん（日本人は器用です）である事
そして時間も４時間近くあったので
パンプキンのポットホルダーを作りました。
季節柄ハロウィーンらしくお顔もつけて。

I provided Pumpkin potholder kit today.
It's Halloween season, the pumpkin is Jack- o-lantan.



日頃自分の時間をちゃんと持つ事が出来ないママさんにとって
とても素敵な企画です。
私も参加させていただき光栄です。

This is very good opportunity for mothers who are not able to have their own time usually.
There are baby sitters, and mothers can concentrate their quilting
I'm glad to be cooperate this.
