シンプル＝簡単？

 本日のキルトは先日仕上がったクッションカバーと対になるように作られたSさんの作品。

前回同様、今回もウェーブキルトの幅が。。。と💦

ん〜、決して不正解ではないのですが、作られた本人が気になるのであれば、やはり慣れるまではきちんとラインを描いてキルティングされた方が良いかもしれませんね。

でもお部屋を彩る素敵なアクセントとなりそうです。はなまる〜〜🌺

パターンもシンプルな物を選ばれたそうですが、シンプルゆえの難しさというのもありますよ。何を選んでも学びは必ずありますね！

Today's quilt is by Ms. S, made to pair with a cushion cover finished the other day.

Like last time, the width of the wave quilt is too narrow... 💦.

Well, it's not an incorrect answer, but if you are concerned about it, it might be better to draw the lines properly until you get used to it.

But it will be a nice accent to her room. Good job〜〜🌺

I heard that she chose a simple pattern, but it can be difficult because of its simplicity. No matter what you choose, there is always something to learn!

経験値が全て！

 本日のキルトはSさんのこちらのクッションカバー

なんか気がついたらウェーブキルトがどんどん細くなっちゃって。。。と

確かに。なぜこのようなことが起こったのでしょう？？

Today's quilt is this cushion cover by Ms.S.She noticed that the wave quilting lines were getting narrower and narrower. 

Indeed. Why did this happen?

今は消えるチャコペンなどでしっかりラインを書いてから、キルトすることができますが、昔は目分量。なので指幅を目安にキルトしていったと言われています。

作品をいくつも作っていくと、作品自体の大きさ、パターンとのバランスなどをみて、ウェーブラインの取り方や幅もコツを掴んできます。

基準はあるものの、これはやはり経験あるのみです。何事も地道に経験を積んでいくことが輩になりますね。

Nowadays, it is possible to draw lines on the quilt with erasable Chaco pens, but in the past, quilting was done by eye, so it is said that quilters used the width of their fingers as a guide.

As you make more and more quilts, you will get the hang of how to take the wavy lines and width of the quilt, based on the size of the quilt itself and the balance with the pattern.

Although there are standards, experience is the only way to go. I believe that experience is the key to success in anything.

Sさんは対になるようにもう一つクッションカバーを作られるので、今回のウェーブキルトのラインも考慮することをお勧めしました。

仕立て上がったカバーはやっぱり素敵❣️今回もはなまる〜

Since Ms. S is making another cushion cover as a pair, I said that she need to take the wave quilt line of this time into account.

The finished cover is still beautiful❣️good job!

くつろぎスペースに

 本日のキルト

久しぶりにお教室の完成品クッションカバー２品です。オレンジというよりもテラコッタに近い落ち着いた色合いでハイビスカスのパターン２種で作られました。

ご自宅のシアターソファーでくつろぎながら映画鑑賞ができそうですね。

For the first time in a while, we have two finished cushion covers from our class. They were made in two different hibiscus patterns in a subdued shade that is more like terra cotta than orange.

It looks
like you can relax and watch movies on your theater sofa at home.

本日のキルトはこちらのクッションカバー。ワイキキクラスのCさん２作品めです。

お友達へのプレゼントとして作られました。

座っているときに膝に乗せた手が楽になるような、ハンドレストピロー。

使い勝手を考えて大きさも自由に決められるのは手作りならではです。

きっと喜んで使っていただけますね。はなまる〜！

Today's quilt is this cushion cover that is Ms. C's second work in the Waikiki class.

This is a hand rest pillow made as a gift for her friend.  It is very helpful for putting your hand confortably when sitting. 

Since it is handmade,  the size can be decided considering usability.

I'm sure her friend will be happy to use it. Aloha!

やっぱりクラシックが好き❤️

 本日のキルトはこちらの座椅子カバーです。カリフォルニア、PlumeriaクラスのYさんがお姉様にプレゼントとして作られました。ロケラニを茶系の濃淡というオーダー。背面と座面部分が同じサイズだったので、同じパターンが連結したようなデザインにし、上下の折り返し部分には蕾のロケラニをあしらいました。パターンがクラシカルなのでキルトラインもオーソドックスに遊びを入れずに仕上げていただきました。

オールドハワイアンのホテルを彷彿とさせるような素敵な作品に仕上げてくださいました。大はなまる〜〜〜🌹

Today's quilt is this chair cover. Ms. Y, Plumeria class in California, was made as a gift for her older sister. The order was brown color with lokelani pattern. Since the back and seat area were the same size, the design was such that the same patterns were connected, and the upper and lower folded parts were treated with bud lokerani. This pattern is classical, so I suggested the orthodox quilting lines.

What's a beautiful work !!  reminiscent of an old Hawaiian hotel. Great work ~ ~ ~ 🌹

残念ながら、この夏の日本一時帰国も難しそうで、お渡しするのはもう少し先になりそうですが、とても喜んでいただけたと伺い、ANELAもとても嬉しいです！

Unfortunately, returning to Japan this summer is not easy, so she can't give it to her sister right away. But she said her sister was very happy because she showed it online. It makes me very happy too

海のシリーズ 🐟

本日のキルトはこちらのクッションカバー。先日の亀とマンタに続きTribal スタイルの海シリーズ第３弾！選んだモチーフはタコです！🐙

シャチと悩んだのですが対称性のあるタコにしました、そしてこのシリーズもこれで一旦終了しようと思います。

Today's quilt is an octopus pattern cushion cover. This is a tribal style ocean series, and I will complete it with this quilt.

ハワイアンキルトは今回のように何か関連付けたモチーフでいくつか作品を作ったり、同系色で何個か作ったり、そんな楽しみもあります。大きな作品にトライするのも一つですが、数で勝負もなかなか素敵ですよ❣️

Hawaiian quilts can be enjoyed by making series of works and making many works of similar colors. Making big quilts is great, of course, but making lots of small ones will also satisfy you.

いづれにしても身の回りにたくさんのハワイアンキルト、そんな暮らしいかがですか？

意外な落とし穴？

 本日のキルトはANELA からこちらのクッションカバー。

Tribal スタイルのマンタレイをデザインした対称性がないハワイアンキルトとしては個性的な作品です。

Today's quilt is this cushion cover from ANELA. This is tribal style manta ray, and very unique design 

以前紹介したHonuとついになるようにずっと作りたかったのですが、パンデミックになり布地が店頭から消え、カリフォルニアにいる間に作れませんでした。

ハワイに来たら布地に困ることはないと勝手に思い込み、出かけたファブリックストアー。埋もれるほどのハワイアンプリントにワクワクが止まらなくなりましたが、キルトに使用する無地のコットン１００％の布地となると、これが本当に品薄。。。。。島中のファブリックストアーを訪ねていますが、選び放題という感じでは全くありません。それに伴いハンドキルト用の糸も品揃えが本当に悪く、苦戦しています。。。。

I've always wanted to make it for matching another cushion (Honu design), which I introduced before, but it became a pandemic and the fabric disappeared from the store, so I couldn't make it while I was in California.

 I was thinking that it isn't difficult to find fabrics in the island when I came to Hawaii. YES, I found a bunch of Hawaiian print, so exciting, but when it comes to the plain 100% cotton fabric used for quilts, this is really scarce. .. .. .. .. I'm visiting fabric stores all over the island, but it's not all-you-can-choose. Along with that, the lineup of threads for hand quilts is really poor, and I am struggling. .. .. ..

思いがけない落とし穴？に直面していますが、それでも街を歩けば次々目に入る花や木々。キルトへの思いは深くなる一方です。先日もボタニカルガーデンでたくさんのお花を眺め、パターンのデザインアイデアがたくさん浮かびました。

ずっと心の中に抱いていた夢に向かってまたしっかり歩いて行こうと思います。

An unexpected pitfall? However, if you walk around the city, you will see flowers and trees one after another. My feelings for quilts are getting deeper. The other day, I saw a lot of flowers in the botanical garden and came up with a lot of pattern design ideas.

I will walk firmly toward the dream I have always had in my heart.

心が落ち着く色です！

本日のキルトはLehuaのKさんの作品。クッションカバー２種です！
実はコロナ前にキルトは完成されており、クッションへの仕立てを依頼され一時帰国。ところがこのような非常事態になり、やっと無事にお渡しすることができました。柔らかめの抹茶色と茶色がとてもシックでどんなお部屋にもマッチしますね。はなまる〜

Today's quilt are these cushion covers that Ms. K has already finished quilting before this covid-19 pandemic. She asked Mana to make a cushion cover with her quilt,  and returned to Japan. At the beginig of this month, she was able to come back to California after long a while. The color combination is soft and sick and much any style of room. Good job!

本日のキルトはANELAの作品からHonuをTribalスタイルでデザインしたクッションカバーです。

Today's quilt is this cushion cover with tribal style Honu design, ANELA made.






クッションに仕立てるには裏布が足らない。。。。と棚を探していたら、タパ柄の布を発見！色もイメージもぴったりで大満足の作品となりました。

Since there is not enough lining cloth to make a cushion. .. .. .. When I was looking for my stock, I found a tapa pattern cloth! The color and image is perfect, and it became a very satisfying work.





今のANELAの部屋にもぴったりで、もう一つ作りたい衝動に駆られています😄
布地屋さんも再開したようなので、早速布地を買いに行きま〜す！

It's perfect for the current ANELA's room, and I want to make another one!  😄
The fabric store seems to have opened again, Let get some fabric!



糸や布を眺めてるだけでも幸せだし、クッション一つでこんな浮かれ気分になれる自分の単純な性格に感謝！Aloha〜❤️

本日のキルトはPlumeria のK さんの枕カバーto 娘ちゃん。以前お兄ちゃんに作ってあげてからお嬢さんにもと計画されていた作品がついに仕上がりました。ハイビスカスとお嬢さん希望のハートをたくさん入れて欲しいとのご依頼で、いくつかパターンをお見せして選んでいただきました。なのでとっても気に入ってくれたそうです。いい夢みてね。はなまる〜❤️

Today's quilt is this pillow case by Ms. K who send to me this photo today. After she made a pillow case for her son a few years ago,  she also planned to make this for daughter some day.  The request was the pattern of many hearts with hibiscus flower. I show some patterns and her daughter chose this, she really love it. Have a nice dream. Good job!

心も体もぬくぬく

今日のキルトはPlumeria のY さんの座布団カバーです。ハイビスカスのトラディッショナルなパターンはどんなスタイルにもマッチしますね。はなまる🌺

Today's quilt is this big size cushion cover that Ms. Y completed. This pattern is traditional and match  any style.　great job!



そして、Kさんが先週お誕生日だったので、みんなでお祝いできるようケーキを持って行きました。季節柄モンブランが食べたっかったのでみなさんにお付き合いいただいたとも言えますが。。。心もほっくりいたしました。

色、いろいろ

本日のキルトはプルメリアのYさんのクッションカバーです。パイナップルは皆さん黄色を選びがちですが、パイナップル産業が盛んであったLanai 島のカラーオレンジを選択され可愛く仕上がりました。はなまる〜

Today's quilt is this cushion cover that Ms. Y finished. Most students choose yellow when making a pineapple quilt. But she has chosen orange which is the color of Lanai Island where the pineapple industry was active. Good Job!

夕日に佇むヤシの陰

本日のキルトはIlima のS さんのクッションカバー。モチーフキルトでヤシの木の陰を表現してほしいとご依頼のあったもの。タフなアップリケとキルトを終えられた後、クッションカバーにお仕立ていたしました。白と黒のコントラストもモダンな作品となりました。はなまる〜🌴

Today's quilt is this cushion cover that Ms. S made. This is not traditional Hawaiian quilting actually, but she tried very tough appliqué, and finished the quilting.  Mana made the quilt to the cushion. It is contemporary style with black and white color. Good job!

ラインが生きてる

本日のキルトはLehua のMさんのパイナップルのクッションカバー。お仕立てを頼まれて完成しました。淡い色の組み合わせが、かえってキルトラインを際立たせお部屋のステキなアクセントになるような作品になりました。はなまる〜🍍

Today's quilt is this cushion cover that Ms. M made. Mana made this quilt to a cushion.  The contrast of color is very soft therefore the quilting line appear very clear and beautiful. very good!

腰から伝わる愛

本日のキルトはLehua のM さんの作品。お祖母様のための腰当てクッションのカバーです。長寿を願ってHonuとUluのパターンで作られました。素敵な贈り物にきっと喜んでいただけますね。はなまる〜🐢

Today's quilt is this long pillow cover that Ms. Y made for her grand mother. She wished grandmother longevity, so Mana chose honu & ulu as for pattern. What a nice gift! Very good job!

ふわふわです。

本日のキルトはHibiscus のMさんが作られたこちら。先日完成報告させていただいたパイナップルと対になるモンステラのクッションカバーは背面を同じ布にして統一感をもたせました。いつもとても丁寧に作っていただいています。はなまる〜🐶

Today's quilt is a monstera cushion cover that Ms. M made with pineapple cover together. Her works is always nice and good.  Great!



愛犬のモカちゃんも気に入ってくれたみたいです❤️。モコモコわんちゃんもふかふかクッションもお部屋と家族をほっくり和ませてくれますね。

ポップです！

本日のキルトはPlumeria のKさんの枕カバーです。息子さんのために作られました。鮮やかな色の組み合わせなので目が疲れたのではないかと思いますが、とてもポップな可愛い作品に完成しました。きっと大切に使ってくれますね。はなまる！⭐️

Today's quilt is a pillowcase for Mr. K's son. She chose seahorse and starfish as motifs and chose blue and red. The color is so bright that her eyes must be tired while making it, but this is a very pop and cute. Well done!

日の目を見ました！

本日ご紹介する完成品はIlima のYさんのタツノオトシゴのクッションカバーです。実はずっと前にキルトは終えられていたのですが、お休みされていたため、そのまま眠っていたので先日お預かりしてカバーにお仕立ていたしました。鮮やかなターコイズと真っ白がとても爽やかで、お部屋がすっきりと明るくなります。色を反転させた対のカバーもあと一息だそう。そちらの出来上がりも楽しみです。はなまる〜

Today's quilt is this cushion cover with seahorse pattern that Ms. Y finished a few years ago.  After she did it, she couldn't come the class and it has sat in the closet for a few years. Finally it was made to cushion cover and it sees the light of day.  Good job!

本日のキルトはHibiscus クラスのMさんのクッションカバーです。全面に広がったパイナップルのパターンは Sweet golden pineapple のように可愛らしい。キルトもとても丁寧で綺麗に仕上げていただきました。対で製作されているもう一つのカバーの完成も楽しみです！

主張せずとも惹きつけます！

本日のLehuaクラスの完成品はRさんのクッションカバーです。統一感をもたせた違うパターン、色を反転させて作っていただきました。落ち着いたグレーは主張は強くありませんが、優しく包み込んでくれるようなRさんのように落ち着いた雰囲気の作品になりました。はなまる🌸

Today's quilt is reverse color cushion cover with different pattern. Gray color is not strong but very soft and conffortable like Ms. R who made it. Great work!!





実はR さん、今日のクラスを最後に他州へお引越しされることになりました。もっとキルトを作りたかったです。とおっしゃってくださり、今回もキットがお伴します。カリフォルニアで出会ってくださりありがとうございました。完成報告心待ちにしています。どうぞお元気で〜
