１３０年たっても亡国の悲しみは決して拭い去ることはできず、17日にはクムフラのフランクヒューエットさんらが率いる多くのハワイアンが、ヌウアヌの王族の霊廟からイオラニ宮殿まで行進をしました。
私がちょうどハワイに移住をした年、1993年のクリントン政権時に、アメリカ政府は、100年前のハワイ王朝転覆は違法であったことを認め、ネイティブ・ハワイアンに正式に謝罪を発表しました。アメリカ本土ではネイティブアメリカンの自治区というものが点在しているけれど、ネイティブハワイアンにはそれは認められておらず、謝罪だけにとどまっています。

いよいよクリスマスまで１週間
街の中はどこもクリスマスのデコレーションで溢れています。
毎年恒例のホノルルシティライツ🎄🎅前で昨年レッスン動画で紹介したMele Kalikimakaを踊ってきました。
やっぱりクリスマスソングは心がウキウキしますね🎶
撮影していたら近くにいたセキュリティーのおじさんにGood 👍と声をかけてもらいました😅
この日を境に、ハワイ全島ストームで雨が続いています。昨年も年末年始雨ばかりだったので今年は晴天のお正月を迎えられたらな〜☀️

One week to Christmas at last!
Everywhere in town is filled with Christmas decorations.
I danced Mele Kalikimaka, which I introduced in my lesson video last year, in front of the annual Honolulu City Lights 🎄🎅.
I was actually a little tired after volunteering at Iolani Palace for 3 hours, but the Christmas song still made my heart sing 🎶.
When I was taking videos, a security guy nearby said Good👍😅.
After this day, the state of Hawaii becomes stormy and it is raining whole days. Last year it rained around New Year's, so I hope we have a sunny New Year's in 2023 ☀️.

今日のフラも屋外、ダイヤモンドヘッドを眺めながらのレッスンは本当に気持ちよかったです。ku'u pua Awapuhi が一通り終わったので、みなさんの確認のためビデオを撮りました。
今月から年末年始まで、日本に一時帰国される方が多く参加者はぐっと減るのですが、その分細かいお話もでき、みなさん「へえ〜、ほ〜、はあ〜」の連続😁
どんな形でもやはりレッスンは楽しく、実りあるものに！ですね。
今日は先週作ったブーゲンビリアのクウペエを身につけていきました。みなさんもらうことは多いけれど、作る機会は意外と少ないようなので、レイについても現物をお持ちして時々お話ししています。
お花を身に着けると気分も上がります❣️どんなに高い宝石にも負けない生花のパワーです。
Today's hula lesson was held outdoors with a view of Diamond Head, and it was really nice.
The number of haumana will be decreasing from this month until the New Year's holiday, but we were able to talk about the details and everyone kept saying "Oh! I got it" 😁.
No matter what the lesson takes, it should be fun and fruitful! .
Today I put the bougainvillea kupee on that I made it last week. Everyone in Hawaii often receive lei, but they don't seem to have many opportunities to make them.
Wearing flowers makes us feel better❣️The power of fresh flowers is as strong as even the most expensive jewelry.

先日のオンラインプライベートレッスンでは

She is an instructor so she is already good at it, but when I gave her the key points, she seemed to understand it very well and said she was sad to leave her last lesson. She will ask me again after the new year 😁.
It is also a good opportunity for me to learn something new.

I understand. Because it's really fun 😁💕💕.
Even in the in-person lessons, everyone gets more and more excited ✨🌟and by the time it's over, they're in a great mood🤣.
Isn't it great to get excited like that?
So, even though it's not a hula song, I want lots of people to dance to it~!
I will enjoy the second half of this workshop with all of them❣️.

コロナ禍で始めたオンラインのプライベートレッスン。単発の方が多い中、もう丸２年間継続してくださってる方がいます。mahalo💕mahalo💕
先日一曲完結し、次何をやりましょう〜って話になったとき、今までの曲の中からもう一度復習をしましょうという結論に達しました。
う〜ん素晴らしい❣️👏👏
そこで今まで何曲か練習した Josh Tatofi さんシリーズで復習をしています。
Joshさんの曲は素敵だけれども、トラディショナルハワイアンと比べると踊るのが難しいかなといつも感じます。
以前、Kuana Tores Kaheleさんはフラで踊りやすいようにかなり意識して曲を書いたり、アレンジしていると聞いたことがあります。（そうすると日本のフラダンサーにもっとCDが売れるから？？？😅）
ステップとかハンドモーションとか、もちろん大切で基本ではありますが、音楽のリズムやその世界観も含めてどこまで体に落とし込めるか、というのも重要ポイントかなと思います。
実際体を動かして練習できない時は、その音楽をいっぱい聞いてくださいね。といつもお話ししているのは、そんな思いから💗です。

I started online private lessons under this pandemic. Many of them are one-shot lessons, but there is one who has been taking private lessons for 2 years now.
The other day we completed one song and when we talked about what to do next, we came to the conclusion that we should do another review from the songs we have done so far.
Well, that's great❣️👏👏.
So we are reviewing Josh Tatofi's series of songs that we have practiced several times.
Josh's songs are wonderful, but I always feel that they are more difficult to dance to than traditional Hawaiian songs.
I have heard that Kuana Tores Kahele writes and arranges his songs very consciously so that they are easy to dance in hula. (Because that would sell more CDs to Japanese hula dancers? 😅)
Steps and hand motions are of course important and basic, but I think the important point is how much you can put into your body, including the rhythm of the music and its world view.
When you can't actually move your body to practice, please listen to that music a lot. This is why I always say .

私たちが練習している間、日本人のカップルがすぐ近くにウェディングフォトを撮りにいらっしゃいました。
音楽もかけてたし写り込まない？ってちょっと心配になったら、大丈夫でーすって💕お声をかけていただきました。
するとお連れのおじさま、私たちのそばにいらして腰フリフリ。。。。🕺
ハワイは人をおおらかにするみたいです😊🌈
幸せそうなカップルを見ながら Ku’u lei awapuhi 気持ちよく踊れました💕

We couldn't use our usual practice place for a few weeks.
We are practicing at a park in Ala Moana.
I looked up at the sky while dancing
the green of the leaves
the sun shining and
the wind blowing through the trees
It was really pleasant and nice to take lessons outside❣️.
While we were practicing, a Japanese couple came nearby to take wedding photos.
I was a little worried that we might be in the photo and also our music bother them. 💕.
And the guy with them said no problem and came up to us and started swinging his hips 。。。。
Hawaii seems to make people generous 😊🌈
Ku'u lei awapuhi which we are practice seemed perfect for the happy couple 💕

気づけば後２ヶ月でクリスマス！
去年Youtube の「踊ってみた」であげたマライアキャリーのクリスマスソングは
パンデミック前はクリスマスイベントで踊っていた曲、そしてパンデミック中のオンラインレッスンではプライベートでお伝えしていました。
今年は少人数のグループでワークショップを行います。ANELA初の試みです。

Christmas is only two months away!
The Mariah Carey Christmas song that I uploaded in my Youtube page last year.
Before the pandemic, I danced to the song at Christmas events with my haumana, and during the pandemic, I gave private online lessons.
This year I will be doing the workshop in a small group setting, a first for ANELA.
My mind is already on Christmas🎄🎁 to start next week.

3月のプリンスクヒオデーにあげたWaikiki HulaのレッスンのリクエストがありYoutubeでこの度公開させていただきました。
ご興味ありましたらぜひご覧ください。
実はYoutubeの"踊ってみた"動画は、
オンライン個人レッスンの課題曲であることが多いです。
課題曲だった場合は基本的にYoutubeではレッスン動画にしないようにしているんです。
(Waikiki Hulaはオンラインではやっていませんでした）
理由は明白で
有料のレッスンを受けてくださった方がいるのに
無料のレッスンを投稿するのはちょっと違うかなと思っているからです。
対面クラスも同様で、基本的にYoutubeと同じ曲は練習していません。
ただし、何年も前に対面でレッスンした曲＋何度もフェスティバルなどで踊ったことがある曲については、いくつかレッスン動画を既に公開しています。（青空文庫的な発想です😁）
中には
Youtubeの動画から課題曲を選ばれる方もいらっしゃいます。動画で全てをお届けできないのは当然なので、Youtubeキャッチアップレッスンという形で受講される方もいらっしゃるし、プライベートで１から習われる方もいらっしゃいます。
リクエストに応じられない時はこのような理由があります。ご理解いただけると嬉しいです。
もちろん個人レッスンをお申し込みいただければ問題ないのですが🤗、「無料のコンテンツだから利用しています。講習費は他の先生に払っていますので」とおっしゃる方もいらっしゃいます。色んな考えでご利用いただければ幸いです。
私としてはできる限り、フェアーに皆さんとフラを楽しめるよう

In fact, the "I tried dancing" videos on Youtube are often the assigned songs for the online private lessons.
(Waikiki Hula was not it).
The reason is obvious.
I think it's a bit different to post free lessons of it.
The same goes for in-person classes; basically, I don't teach the same songs as Youtube.
However, I have already posted some lesson videos for songs that I have taught in person many years ago + danced to many times in public.
Some of my students choose their favorite songs from Youtube videos. Some of them take lessons for catch-up lessons, and some of them learn from beginning in private.
That's why, sometimes I can't lesson on Youtube, even if someone request tutorial of "odottemita" video.
Of course, there is no problem if you apply for private lessons 🤗, but there are some who say, "I'm using this site because it's free content, and I don't intend to pay for the lessons." I hope you can use the site from various perspectives.
I will continue to do my best to enjoy hula with you as much as possible ❗️.

前回お話ししたシニアー向けの”座ったままでも踊れるフラ動画”を日本のSりんに送ったら、なんとその日のうちに「利用者の方にシェアしました！」って動画と共にお返事💕 もう嬉しすぎです！ この迅速な行動力、彼女は施設でもきっと仕事をテキパキとこなしているんだろうなと思います❣️
I sent the "hula video that can be danced while sitting down" for seniors that I told you about last time to Ms.S in Japan, and to my surprise, she replied same day "I shared it with seniors today!" What a prompt reply💕 I am so happy! I'm sure she's doing a great job at the facility with this quick action ❣️.
そして他でも役に立つ場があるかもしれないと思いYoutube にも投稿しました。
ありがたいことにコメントもいただき、改めてSmall Helpができたな〜とちょっとほっくりしています。

カリフォルニアでフラもキルトも参加されてたSりん！日本ご帰国後、シニアーデイケアサービスで働いていらっしゃいます。フラの経験を活かし、施設で利用者の方にフラをお見せしたり、座ったままのフラも一緒に練習したりしています〜とご連絡くださったのです！
LINE received a few days ago
Ms.S, who participated in both my hula class and quilt class in California! After returning to Japan, she is working at a senior day care service, and she is using her hula experience to show hula to seniors at the facility and also to practice hula with them while sitting down!
I was so happy to hear from her.
ご帰国時にお持ちになったキルトもしっかり完成させちゃうと寂しので、未完成にしていると微妙〜に残されているキルトスペースが微笑ましい💕
She did not finish this quilt that she brought with her from California because she might feel sad if she finished it when she came back to Japan. ......
It makes me smile to see the subtle quilt space that remains 💕💕.
自分がやってきたことが少しでも人の生活に役立てたのだなあ〜と感じさせてもらえて嬉しいです。
なので、Hula Noho for Kupuna で一曲振り付けしようと思います！
It makes me happy to think that what I did helped others in some small way. So I'm going to choreograph a song for Hula Noho for Kupuna!
対面のフラ教室ではリクエストを受けて"E ku'u Morning Dew"を練習しています。
Kawanawa さんのバージョンが素敵なのですが、繰り返しがどこからなのかしっかり把握していないと、どこを踊っているのか見失いやすくなり。。。😰
それでもこの曲を自分の持ち歌ならぬ持ちHulaにされたいと頑張って練習しています。
この曲は自分のHulaにしたい！って思いを私も全力でサポートします！
オンラインレッスンの方ではJosh Ttofiさん、Waipunaさん、Keali'i Reichel さんなどなどの曲を練習中。ちょっとした気のつけ方で踊り方が変わってくることを体感していただいています。
やりすぎも、削ぎ落としすぎも、美しくない。。。💦
なんでも”程”って大切。と自分にも言い聞かせて😅
そしてYoutubeの方では"Lei Lehua"という可愛らしい曲を投稿しています！

父の日の日曜日
朝早起きして早朝の海で行われるHi'uwaiに参加してきました。
hi'u は尻尾 waiは水 という意味で人間だったら尻尾ではなく足を水に浸けて浄化することとKumu Brain Kiaが説明をしてくれました。
ハワイアンには３つのピコ（お臍）があって、頭（過去・先祖）お臍（現在・両親）プライベート（未来・子孫）にそれぞれ繋がっていると考えられています。
海に膝下まで入り、この３つのピコを清めることによって身体も浄化させ初期化させるのだそうです。
背後からはクムのチャントが聞こえ、じわっと涙が出てきました。
そんな清々しい朝から始まり、お昼には父の日のサンデーブランチへ
父の日のスペシャルメニューをいただきながら、Kuana Torres Kahele さんの生歌とTehani Gonzado さんのフラを見るという大変贅沢な時間を過ごしてきました。
日本だと考えられないかもしれないのですが、ローカルにとってはこのお二人の組み合わせも普通のレストランのライブ演奏という認識だけで、特にじっくり聞く様子もなく、食べ終わったタイミングでさっさと帰って行かれる方がも少なくありません。
テハニさんもテーブルの隙間でサラッと踊っていらっしゃいましたが、やっぱり素敵でした〜
お料理も美味しく、とても充実した1日でした。感謝〜！
Merrie Monarch Festival 2022
This year, only those involved were spectators, but I was happy to see the cheers coming in from the audience.
After all, it was lonely last year when the stadium was quiet.
I think the most wonderful thing about this year’s festival was that for the first time, Halau from Kaua’i was crowned the overall winner.
メリーモナークが終わりましたね。今年は関係者のみでしたが会場から歓声が上がり盛り上がりました😊
初めてカウアイ島のハラウが優勝を果たしというのも大きな結果ですね。
この会場から程近い所にKeaukahaという場所があり、その地を訪れたLena Machadoが作ったKamalani o Keaukaha という曲をYouTube のレッスンで投稿しました。ぜひ、練習してください！
