ワークショップ Workshop in SF

今日はサンフランシスコのJCCCNCでワークショップを行いました。
２時間のみという限られた時間なので、今回はコースターのキットを用意。

I held workshop at JCCCNC in SF.
Only two hours lesson, I chose "Anthurium coaster"



初心者の方もいらしたのですが、皆さん時間内に一枚を仕上げられたので
家でもう一枚つくってくださいね。
別キットも購入して下さった方もいました。
キルトの楽しさをお伝えすることが出来て、私も楽しかったです。

Everybody was able to finish one coaster in time.
Some people bought extra kits.
I'm so happy they enjoyed to do quilt.

サンノゼ教室 Class of San Jose

2012年暮れ、急にカリフォルニアへ引っ越すことが決まりました。
急な出来事に気持ちが追いつかず、しばらく何もできませんでしたが
フロリダの生徒さんが最後に私のキットをオーダーしてくれたので
どうにか頑張って送り届けました。
そして、完成作品の写真を次々送って下さったことが励みになり
サンノゼ教室をスタートさせました。

In 2012, moving to CA was decided suddenly.
I felt seriously depressed and didn't feel like doing anything for a while.
The student of Florida ordered a lot of my kits before I left there.
I made and sent those, and they sent photos soon after finishing their quilt.
It became my motivation, I have begun the class of San Jose.

2009年, アメリカ本土でハワイから一番遠い場所、フロリダへ
思いがけず多くのハワイアンと出会いがありました。
ローカルの小学校でフラを通じてハワイの文化を伝える仕事をし
子供達にもハワイアンキルトを見せる機会がありました。

In 2009, I moved to Florida, the most far place in mainland from Hawaii.
However, I encountered many Hawaiian people, and I have begun to teach hula at local elementary school. I had opportunities to show my Hawaiian Quilt during those workshop.



そして、ありがたい事に依頼がありお教室を始めました。

I got an offer of quilt class again, and I have begun it.

香港にて Class in Hong Kong

2001年のクリスマス。香港に引っ越ししすぐに始めたのは太極拳。
その先生の紹介で、香港日本人倶楽部で講座を始めることになりました。
ありがたいことに毎回多くの受講希望があり、ウェイティングが出る事も。
継続者も多く、和気あいあいとキルト作りのお手伝いをすることができました。

In Christmas, 2001, I moved to Hong Kong and have begun to learn Tai Chi.
The master of Tai Chi introduced me to Hong Kong Japanese club, and I took charge of Hawaiian Quilt class. I was so lucky, there were much attendance applicants every time.



年間のオリジナル作品講座は約8回
常に次回作のアイデアを練り、見本作り、材料調達、キット作りと忙しく過ごしましたが、多くの生徒に一度に同じものを教えるという貴重な経験を積むことができました。
生徒さん達と一緒に作品展を開き、リボンレイのワークショップも開催しました。

About eight times of original works lesson were carried out every year.
I always developed new idea, made a sample, procured materials, and made a kit.
so busy but good experience.
I held the exhibition, too.


当時の生徒さんが現在でも香港でハワイアンキルトグループを継続して下さっています。ANELAの名前をずっと受け継いで、新メンバーの方にも引き継がれているというのは本当にうれしい事です。直接お目にかかっていなくてもみんなANELAの大切なOhanaです。
多謝！！

香港ハワイアンキルトサークルアネラ

There is a student who learnt Hawaiian quilt at ANELA of Hong Kong, and still continue the activity of "Hawaiian quilting group"as ANELA.
She inherits the name "ANELA", and shares to new members.
They are valuable Ohana of ANELA.  Mana express her gratitude to them.

日本にて Class in Japan

2000年、日本ではまだハワイアンキルト 専門のお教室はほとんどありませんでした。
ご近所の方に依頼され、幼稚園に子供達が行っている間に自宅でお教室を始めました。
まだまだ、子育ての優先順位が一番の時期でしたが、皆さんキルトを楽しんで下さるのがうれしくて時間をやりくりして行いました。

At the time of 2000, Hawaiian Quilt class was very rare in Japan.
Neighbor asked me to teach Hawaiian quilt, I started a class at home while my kids were going to kindergarten. Taking care of kids was first priority to me.
It's a tiny class but everyone enjoyed to learn Hawaiian Quilt, and I used my time resourcefully.

原点 Origin of ANELA

1998年　キルトを教えて欲しいと依頼され
ベビーシッター付きのミリラニの教会でレッスンを始めました。
これがHawaiian Quilt ANELA の原点です。

In 1998,  my friend asked me to teach Hawaiian Quilt at a church of Mililani.
It is the origin of "Hawaiian Quilt ANELA"

はじめに〜出会い〜 introduction

１９９３年ハワイのオアフ島での生活がスタートし
真っ先に私の目に飛び込んだのがハワイアンキルトでした。
小さいときから、何かを作ることが大好きだった私は
迷うこと無くクラスをとって習い始めました。

I started Hawaiian life in Oahu, 1993.
It was a Hawaiian quilt I encountered at very beginning.
I am a craft person, I took a class without hesitation, and have begun to learn it.


パターンの美しさ、キルトの楽しさ
私はすぐに虜になり
時間があれば、クラフトショップやキルトショップに足を運んだり
先人達のキルトを見に行ったり。

Beauty of the pattern, pleasure of doing quilt.
It caught my heart soon, and I went to quilt shop often when I have time.
There were a lot of opportunity to see beautiful quilt of our predecessors.


そして、ハワイアンキルト特有のモチーフである草や樹は
いつも生活の中にありました。

And there were beautiful flowers and trees that become quilt motif, always in my life.


私がキルトをしながら思い出すハワイは
頭が記憶している景色はもちろん、
肌が覚えているハワイの空気や日差しのような気がします。

While I am doing quilt, I feel the wind and sunlight of Hawaii.


ハワイの風になびく木々や花の息吹をキルトに表現したい。
そんな想いで針を動かし続けていますが
まだまだ。。。。

The swinging tree in the Hawaiian wind, the brilliantly colored flower under the Hawaiian sun.
I keep doing quilt to express these......



到達できるかわかりませんが、これからも作り続けていきたいと思っています。

I don't have an idea when I can make it.
Now, I'm just devoting to do quilt.
